Stay in the zone

Keyboard shortcuts help you work faster and smarter, enabling quick iterations and precise asset manipulation—all while keeping you in your creative flow.

Once they become second nature, they ensure an uninterrupted, distraction-free workflow, letting you focus on your design without wasting time on complex menus and mouse movements.

There’s a vast array of shortcuts available in Lumion Pro—for everything from camera movements to material settings—but in this guide, we want to show you 8 simple keyboard shortcuts for manipulating assets with ease.

Whether you’re trying to place, move, or align the objects in your scene—there’s a shortcut for everything. So, let’s see how they’re done.

K + Rotate

Hold the K key and drag with the Rotate tool to make all selected objects align and face toward the current position of the mouse cursor. This is useful for ensuring that multiple chairs in the same room all face the same way, for example.

Shift + Rotate

Holding Shift while using the Rotate tool temporarily disables 45-degree snapping, allowing free rotation for finer control. This is useful for precise adjustments, like positioning an object at a custom angle.

Z + move mouse

Holding the Z key allows you to move the selected object forward and backward along the Z-axis, allowing you to adjust its position relative to the camera.

X + move mouse

Holding the X key allows you to move the selected object side to side along the X-axis, helping you control its horizontal placement.

F + Rotate + move mouse

This shortcut aligns the heading—or orientation—of the selected objects with the surface beneath the mouse cursor. It helps ensure a natural placement, for example, when positioning furniture on a sloped floor.

F + Left mouse button + move mouse

When you hold F and drag with the Left mouse button, the selected objects snap directly to the surface of the landscape, ignoring all other object types. This ensures that the objects align perfectly with the terrain, regardless of height or slope. With this shortcut, you can easily position objects like trees, rocks, and foliage on uneven ground.

Ctrl + Mass placement function

Holding Ctrl while using the Mass placement function allows you to quickly place multiple versions of the same object in your scene. This is useful for populating large outdoor areas with trees or filling an interior scene with rows of chairs.

R + Left mouse button + move mouse

This shortcut allows you to rotate objects around their axis, enabling them to face any direction. Simply hold down the R key and move the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.

Choose your

control scheme

While it isn’t possible to change the default keyboard shortcuts in Lumion Pro, you can select a camera control scheme that matches your preferred CAD or 3D modelling software.

If you use Sketchup, Revit, or Rhino, you can select the control scheme you’re most familiar with—directly in Lumion—by going to Settings, then Input, and choosing your desired camera input preset from the dropdown menu under Camera input.
